The numerous FIRST TIMEs in the researches really taught me a lot.

  • When I FIRST designed a perfect experiment procedure, I learned problem-solving;

  • When I FIRST continued 5 hours of experiment and processed hundreds of data, I learned perseverance...

 

Economics

China's Circular Economy - Redesigning the breakdown of e-waste 
G11 Summer @ Yale Young Global Scholars 2018

  We analyzed the concept of circular economy, current collection, recycling models and regulations in China, compared with EU policies and made suggestions.

  We did a 20-min presentation on our research at Yale Center Beijing.

  • Shared opinions groupmates from all over the world.

  • Completed my first formal social science research

  • Increased awareness of the social problems around me

Mathematics

Secret of Rotation -- Mathematics behind Spirograph Toys
G11-G12 (2018.5-10)
  Inspired by a toy I used to play in childhood called Spirograph, I started this investigation on the mathematical mechanism of spirograph and the factors influencing the number of vertices of the final shape.
  I used computer simulation, mathematical modelling to set up and test the function of the trajectory shape. I also applied knowledge in trigonometry and geometry to prove the theory I developed.
  • Completed 12-page paper
  • Acquired scientific method of mathematical research
  • Realized the application of mathematics in my daily life
 

Physics & Chemistry

Investigating the effect of window height on the interior temperature of a model car
Investigation on the factors that affect the tea polyphenol content in tea

 

G11 - G12 (2018.3-10)

  These two investigations are based on my daily experience: the rising inner temperature of a car under the sun in summer, and the nutritious value of tea.

  I did abundant research, designed experiments and used knowledge learned to explain the pattern I found.
